on the ACNC Register
An Australian charity with a global heart
HUMANITARIAN INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATION LTD, operating as the Alawite International Organisation, is based in North Sydney and registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). We were founded because vulnerable communities needed an organised, transparent voice — in Australia, at the United Nations, and wherever help is needed most.

Our Australian home: welcoming communities across five states.
Why we exist
Alawite communities — particularly in Syria — have faced vulnerability and persecution, often without an organised international voice. At the same time, Alawite families, migrants and refugees in Australia need connection, support and representation. We were established on 2 June 2025 to do both: deliver practical, benevolent help, and build a credible, transparent platform for advocacy — including seeking consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
We are a new organisation, and we are building carefully: registered from day one, reporting up to date with the ACNC, and endorsed as a Public Benevolent Institution and Deductible Gift Recipient.
What drives us
Justice, security and humanitarian aid — and a seat at the table where the world's decisions are made.
Our Mission
To support vulnerable Alawite communities, particularly in Syria, and to gain a voice at the United Nations through consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council — advocating for justice, security, and humanitarian aid for Alawites worldwide.
Our Vision
To amplify our community's voice at the UN, advocating for the safety and rights of persecuted Alawites. By uniting, we can offer strength and solutions for those in need, especially in Syria.
Our Values
Dignity
Every person we help is treated with respect — help is given in a way that honours families and communities.
Justice
We speak up for safety, rights and accountability for persecuted and vulnerable people.
Unity
By uniting as members, volunteers and partners, a dispersed community becomes a strong, credible voice.
Transparency
Registered, reporting and accountable. Our ACNC record is public and our reporting is up to date.
Compassion
Benevolence is our legal purpose and our daily practice — practical help for people in need.
Human Rights
One of our two ACNC programs. Rights are universal, and we advocate for them without exception.
Advocacy with dignity: working toward ECOSOC consultative status at the United Nations.
Our programs & work
Two official ACNC programs, delivered through five areas of work.
1 Assisting the Global Alawite Community ACNC Program
Our core benevolent program. We connect, support and assist Alawite communities in Australia and overseas — helping families stay connected, supported and heard, and linking overseas communities and charities with help from Australia.
2 Human Rights ACNC Program
Documenting concerns, raising awareness, and advocating for the safety and rights of persecuted Alawites and other vulnerable people — in public forums, with government, and internationally.
Humanitarian Aid — Particularly Syria
Raising support in Australia for vulnerable communities in Syria, where need is greatest. Our founding public fundraising was launched to build this aid and advocacy effort from Australia.
UN Advocacy & ECOSOC Goal
A central goal of our mission is consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council. That status would let our community contribute directly to UN discussions on human rights and humanitarian issues.
Community Support in Australia — Migrants, Refugees & Families
Across NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, we support people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds — including migrants, refugees and asylum seekers — along with children, youth, families and older adults, as they settle and thrive.
